Tenor.
Erkan Aki’s path to becoming one of the best voices in his field began with classical singing studies with the Swiss tenor Paul Späni, where he specialized in the genre of lied. This was followed by another three years of studying music theory in Istanbul before returning to the Zurich University of Music and since then he has been accompanied by the renowned music professor Jane Thorner-Mengedoht.
The result: a career straight out of a picture book.
Legend.
At the turn of the millennium he sang live in front of millions of people at the Brandenburg Gate, was the first artist in the world to perform in Beijing’s “Forbidden City” and sang duets with Xavier Naidoo, Montserrat Caballé and Patricia Kaas. In 2012 he released his ninth studio album to date and was constantly on a world tour with superstar Sarah Brightman until 2016, which took him to the largest concert halls in the world.
To this day he continues to delight audiences at solo concerts in German-speaking countries.
Evolution.
He has always loved artists like Annie Lennox and Freddie Mercury. He has also recently delved deeper into the traditional sounds of his ethnic roots. This is how the idea for a completely new music came about, which combines his fantastic tenor voice with influences from oriental music, electronic beats and rich sounds from pop and rock.
An absolute novelty that is currently one of the most exciting music projects in German-speaking countries.

As a Swiss tenor with Turkish roots, Erkan Aki achieved international fame primarily through his unique blend of classical music and pop.
His debut album not only catapulted him to the top of the charts, but has already led to numerous successful tours and duets with world stars such as Sarah Brightman and Montserrat Caballé.
After a break in which he immersed himself deeply in his cultural roots, he is now back with a new music project that combines oriental sounds with electronic music: AKI
Star tenor, man of heart and citizen of this earth: Erkan Aki
The son of Turkish immigrants, Erkan Aki was born in Switzerland and grew up in the canton of Lucerne. He studied classical singing at the Zurich University of Music and in Istanbul and was discovered and supported by the composer and producer Attila Sereftug, who wrote, among other things, Célin Dion’s ESC winning song “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi”.
His debut album “Here’s To The Heroes” (Sony Music/Columbia) was produced by Nigel Wright (also Madonna, Barbara Streisand, José Carreras) and made Erkan Aki a much sought-after star of the then completely new pop classic genres almost overnight. “Here’s To The Heroes” stormed the German charts and the Swiss tenor thrilled a rapidly growing number of fans nationally and internationally at his live concerts.
From then on, sold-out concerts and tours determined the schedule, at the turn of the millennium he sang live in front of millions of people at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, together with Montserrat Caballé, he provided a concert evening in the Arena Xanten that has never been equaled to date, and was the first artist in the world to perform at the Palace of Tranquil Longevity (Ningshougong) within Beijing’s “Forbidden City”.
Apart from his great success as a solo artist, his duets and collaborations with big names in the national and international music world have also drawn atention. He recorded numerous duets (e.g. with Patricia Kaas and Xavier Naidoo) and toured for many years with world star Sarah Brightman. Erkan Aki stood on the stages of the largest concert halls in North and Central America, Asia, Europe and the Near and Middle East with her and thrilled the audience.
In addition, Erkan Aki was and is a welcome guest in the music and talk formats of various broadcasters in German-speaking countries.
After releasing nine albums and the end of his (to date) last world tour with Sarah Brightman, he took a break in 2016 in order to be able to devote himself fully to his family and his great passion, traveling.
He also intensively explored his ethnic and cultural roots and got to know the traditional sounds of the Middle East from a completely new side. For him, the city of Istanbul is emblematic of this, as it makes the link between the West and the Arab world noticeable at every moment, not only geographically but also culturally. No wonder that he is often drawn from tranquil Zurich to the pulsating metropolis on the Bosphorus.
This is also where the desire, the ideas and the demos for a completely new music emerged, which combines the fantastic tenor voice of Erkan Aki with influences from oriental music, electronic beats and rich sounds from pop and rock. An absolute novelty that is currently one of the most exciting music projects in German-speaking countries.
And Erkan Aki is also returning live to the stages to prove why he is still considered one of the leading voices in his genre by fans and critics alike. He is currently touring with the multiple award-winning pianist Ulugbek Palvanov and the “Scenes” program; in the future he will also be seen again in larger ensembles.
